After many months searching for the best way to share my passion for education, I’ve finally decided to create this space to share ideas, reflections and resources that come from calm, observation and a deep respect for childhood.
In this blog, you’ll find inspiration for both families and education professionals: Montessori activity ideas, teaching resources, book recommendations, and content related to child development, respectful pedagogy, and the foundations of the Montessori approach.
I’ll also be sharing reflections on my journey as an early childhood and primary school teacher in two very different contexts: the Spanish and Australian education systems. This dual experience has allowed me to see education from different perspectives, discover new ways to support children, and continue growing professionally.
All of this gives meaning to the name of this blog: The Slow Pedagogy.
Because I believe in an education that respects children’s rhythms, that doesn’t rush, that observes and supports with presence and patience. Because learning is not about accumulating, but about discovering. And because we need educational spaces where emotional wellbeing, curiosity and authenticity matter more than results.
For years, I have felt something inside me wanting to be expressed. That education could be lived differently: slower, more consciously, more connected to what really matters. This blog is born from that need and from the desire to create a community with others who feel the same. I hope this space becomes a meeting point where we can grow, inspire each other and support one another.
I invite you to join me on this path, where respectful guidance, attentive observation of childhood and the desire to build a more humane education lead every step.
I’d love to hear from you too. This blog is not meant to be a lesson, but a conversation. If anything I share resonates with you, I’d be happy if you let me know. Together, we can create new ways of seeing and living education.
With calm and presence,
Mireia
